Family Day At-Home Activities in YMM

By on February 7, 2021 0 602 Views

Family Day long weekend is quickly approaching! As restrictions continue to keep us settled, I’ve found some at-home activities in our community to help you celebrate. This year is extra special because it lines up with Valentine’s Day, so get crafty – cut out some heart confetti to throw around and embrace the cold snap with a weekend full of love and family fun.

P.S. Our fabulous YMM Parent contributor Ashley Gilbert of Craftin’ with Catton put together a Family Day Scavenger Hunt Contest to help create special memories. If you take part, you could win one of her garden kits from her home-based business, Adventures of a Stepmom. More details below.

DIY Garden Kit

DIY Garden Kits from Adventures of a Stepmom

YMM Parent’s exclusive DIY extraordinaire Ashley Gilbert has provided us with great crafts and homemade gift ideas since we launched the publication in 2018. Through this time, she’s kick-started a new home-based biz approach to her Adventures of a Stepmom platform with DIY garden kits.

The garden kits are all customizable and are available with various items and themes to choose from. With sand and stone options, the kits can also include fake plants or real ones from Northern Alberta’s cactus company Prickly Pals. Check out her Facebook page for frequent giveaway contests and new product updates.

Package Cost: $25 to $80 (Prices vary, depending on the customization.)

Order On Facebook! *Pick-up and delivery options are available in Fort McMurray at no additional cost. Additional shipping costs apply to out-of-city residents.

Family Pizza-Making Night

Family Pizza Kits from The Alley YMM

If there’s one thing my family can all agree on for supper – it’s pizza! We usually order it weekly as it’s a great go-to meal after a busy week of school and work. This weekend, we are trying out a homemade approach that could turn into a new tradition with a family pizza-making night, and The Alley YMM offers a Family Pizza Kit to get us started.

The kit includes four fresh 12” pizza dough (made with Italian flour), Stanislaus tomato sauce and premium mozzarella cheese. Add your favourite ingredients, or simply keep it cheesy!

Kit Cost: $23.99 (Additional toppings and dips available. Prices vary.)

Order Online! *You can get 10% off when you pick-up. Delivery options are available through Bulldog Delivery and SkiptheDishes.

At-Home Ceramic Painting

To-Go Kits from Color Me Mine

The Month of Love is one of my favourites on the calendar, so our family started celebrating last weekend by picking up heart-shaped ceramic plates from Color Me Mine. Our local ceramic studio has been offering To-Go Kits where you can pick out ceramics and paints to take home with you – or you can shop online. Once you master your creations, bring them back to the studio for glazing and firing. There’s no additional cost!

Kit Cost: $10.00 (Ceramics sold separately. Prices vary.)

Order Online! *If you order online, pick-up and delivery options are available. Select your items for purchase, and the studio will contact you for a time and date to pick them up.

Family Day Scavenger Hunt Contest

The basic rules of any scavenger hunt are to find the items on the list, and the first one to gather all the things wins. Take the competition outside of your household and enter the garden kit giveaway. More details below.

How to Enter:

Complete the scavenger hunt.

Send a fun photo with all of your finds to the Adventure of a Stepmom’s Facebook page!

You can enter at any time until the end of February. The winner will get to choose one of the six available kids’ garden kit themes: Fairy, Jurassic, Unicorn, Mermaid, Insect or Farm. Contest price valued at $40.

Happy Family Day, YMM Parents!
