Valentine’s Day Canvas Craft

LOVE is in the air this Valentine’s Day – and what a better way to spend it than crafting with your family! Nova has always loved using a canvas for her art, so she was really excited when I showed her this plan. She plans to hang it above her bed.

Grab a few simple craft supplies to put together this fingerprint canvas! It doubles as a keepsake or gift!

Materials:

Canvas

Red and white paint

Paint tray

Masking tape

Paintbrushes *Optional if your kids prefer not to use their fingers. Nova used them a couple of times.

Step 1

Use the masking tape to make the letters: L, O, V and E on the canvas.

Step 2

Add red to your painting tray in three spots. Keep one as is, add a little bit of white to one to make a dark pink and a bit more to the other to make a lighter pink – or if you have pink paint, use that with red.

Step 3

Time to use those fingers! Dot each colour all over the canvas. This will take some time as you need to ensure you’ve covered most of the canvas so that the white of your letters can stand out.

Step 4

Keep dotting! Nova decided to take a few heart stickers we had and stick them to her canvas to outline.

Step 5

Once you feel that the canvas is mostly covered, remove the tape slowly. Ensure you do this while the paint is still drying!

Happy Valentine’s Day, YMM Parents & Happy Crafting!
