Oranj Fitness welcomes the community to celebrate its 11th birthday today and tomorrow with complimentary classes and smoothies at their Eagle Ridge studio in Timberlea.

“We celebrate our birthday for not just one day but two full days at Oranj,” explains Oranj Fitness – Fort McMurray’s Studio Manager Robyn Muir. “We also will have 25% off retail including Lululemon, Z Supply, Molly Bracken and Oranj Custom Plus membership deals. No setup fees and no contract options.”

Oranj Fitness is a community-focused, group fitness studio with “cutting-edge exercise classes” by local certified instructors.

“Oranj provides a fun and safe workout environment where our clients feel like they are home,” said Muir. “The variety of classes and amazing instructors are so inspiring and committed to their personal growth, whether it be for physical or mental results. We care about them like family.”

The Evolution of Oranj

Rewind to 2008, Oranj Fitness Founder and CEO Shelia Chutskoff opened her second studio in Fort McMurray’s new development area of East Village at 149-355 Loutit Road, after the success of its first studio opening in Kelowna, B.C. one year prior.

In the Spring of 2015, Chutskoff was selected to pitch to the business valuators and investment experts of CBC’s Dragons’ Den on Season 10. And although she didn’t make a deal for Oranj, she shared on Facebook how she received some solid advice from Boston Pizza Franchise Owner Jim Treliving.

During this time, the franchise was working on opening up a third studio. Since then, the company has organically grown to six locations in Western Canada including Airdrie, Castlegar, Grand Prairie, Castlegar and Penticton with its seventh studio opening in Calgary-Kensington in March 2019.

Today, its evolved to further offer courses and certification programs through the Canadian Yoga Alliance with Yoga Alliance 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training, as well as four continuing education for PTS (Personal Training Specialist) and FIS (Fitness Instructor Specialist) credits with Canfit Pro. Anatomy 101 and Business 101 are also available at the Studio.

A World Where the Status Quo is Boogying!

Muir has been on the local Oranj Management Team for five years and said she has found “personal growth” being a part of the company. She explained how this stems from the inspirational motives the company promotes and instills in their clients.

“Oranj really does take a stand for personal development and work-life balance,” she said. “Our vision is creating a world where the status quo is boogying. Be the best possible version of yourself you can be with integrity, compassion and never take yourself too seriously.”

If you’ve never stepped in its doors before, Muir shared it’s an exceptional facility for beginners because each class is beginner-based and focus on fun first. With 90 classes available a week in yoga, boot camp, spin, barre and Zumba, an Oranj Fitness membership also offers full amenities and services.

Our instructors are here for you and take pride in developing the best possible classes for you,” she enthused. “Our retail store is always fully stocked with all your athletic or yoga apparel needs, and our childcare option in the mini boogier room will let you have that hour to focus on you while we take care of the little ones.”

The celebration is on now (January 30) until 8 p.m. and tomorrow (January 31) from 4:45 a.m. to 8 p.m. To learn more or book a class, visit www.oranjfitness.com/fortmcmurray and go to Oranj Fitness Facebook page for announcements and updates.
