Movies are Better Together!

Buttered popcorn, the big screen, and a blockbuster flick – all the things that Movie Lovers appreciate remain the same in the new changes at Landmark Cinemas.

Since its theatre reopening at the beginning of Summer 2020, Landmark has maintained its experience by creating new protocols in correlation with the Alberta Health Services COVID-19 guidelines to bring guests back to the box office. The health and safety measures are for the public, as well as the cinema staff.

“Landmark has implemented the health and safety measures of the applicable provincial and municipal governments to provide movie-goers with a safe and enjoyable movie-going experience. We ask Movie Lovers to join us in doing their part to protect members of their community, including our employees, by staying home if they are experiencing any symptoms,” said Bill Walker, CEO of Landmark Cinemas.

Some of the protocols include: every Landmark Cast and Crew member wearing proper protective equipment, enhanced cleaning with hand sanitizer stations found throughout the theatre complex, temporarily removed lobby seating, protective safety shields and safeguards at the concession and limited seats to ensure physical distancing.

Landmark Cinemas also recommends purchasing tickets in advance online. Family members or cohorts should reserve their required number of seats, and they will be allowed to seat themselves within a block of adjoining seats while respecting physical distancing requirements from their fellow guests.

The following is a breakdown of what guests should expect when they catch a movie. However, they should review all of the guidelines before their movie-going experience on the Landmark Cinemas website at landmarkcinemas.com.

Before going:

Go to the Landmark Cinemas website and read the guidelines in advance. The information is on the home page, by clicking on the yellow banner, which reads: Movies Are Better.

Purchase movie tickets online to help staff improve the experience by allowing them to know the number of guests coming to each movie. Free reserved seating is available. (Vouchers can also be redeemed online). Tickets are also available to purchase in-person.

Heading in for the show:

Guests should arrive 20 minutes prior to help maintain the physical distancing requirements and to ensure each guest has time to settle in.

Guests are asked to use the hand sanitizing stations, once entering the facility.

At the concession, Landmark Cast and Crew members will be wearing proper protective gear behind plexiglass shields and will be accepting bank and credit cards for payment. Cash is accepted at limited POS stations.

The self-serve drink stations have shield guards and they are wiped down after each guest’s usage.

Inside the theatre:

Guests are asked to go to their designated seating area. Guests with a family or cohort can sit together within the block of adjoining seats to respect the physical distancing requirements from fellow quests.

Families with small children should ensure they remain seated unless using the washroom facilities.

After the show:

Guests will exit the theatre starting from the first rows to back to ensure physical distancing.

A Landmark Crew member will be at the exit of the theatre with signage to show how to exit the building. Guests will not be able to leave through the front entrance.
