The Sky’s the Limit for Young Leaders in Wood Buffalo

The Fort McMurray Airport Authority believes the sky’s the limit for young leaders in our region. As the presenting partner of the YMM Parent launch event and the inaugural Top 20 Under 20 celebrations at the Fort McMurray International Airport, we are proud to support programs and initiatives that build self-confidence, cultivate leadership skills and develop personal attributes to help youth reach their potential academically, professionally and personally.

One of the initiatives we are most proud of supporting is our longstanding partnership with 868 Squadron – YMM Northstar Fort McMurray Air Cadets. The program provides youth with the opportunity to learn citizenship and leadership skills while making community connections. Our investment helps promote our aviation history and inspires youth to pursue leadership roles in aviation and beyond.

Air Cadets provides an excellent career pathway for youth interested in becoming a pilot. The Flying Scholarship Program through the Air Cadet League of Canada in conjunction with the Department of National Defence, helps remove barriers for young leaders, giving them an opportunity to receive flight training.

Just like our support for the Air Cadets, the Top 20 Under 20 initiative gives us an opportunity to shine a spotlight on young people who are making the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo a better place to work and live.

Being a good neighbour and supporting our community is fundamental to who we are and how we operate. We are proud to collaborate with various organizations to create positive societal impacts through volunteerism, community investment, gift in-kind support and hosting tours and events at our airport.
